Westmorland Horticultural Society
June 26 @ 7:00 pm
Mark Monday, June 26 on your calendar as you won’t want to miss this presentation. The Westmorland Horticultural Society (Moncton’s Friendly Garden Club) is thrilled to announce that Dr.Vett Lloyd, a renowned researcher from Mount Allison University who is an expert on ticks and Lyme Disease, (and a gardener!) has graciously agreed to come to speak and educate us on the preventative measures all gardeners should take to avoid a tick bite and on the risk of Lyme disease. The ticks that carry this terrible disease, and other diseases as well, are common here in our area and put us at risk. Many of us know someone who has contracted Lyme disease so we’re very aware of the need to stay safe. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM at the Lutz Mountain Meeting House and Heritage Museum, 3143 Mountain Road. There is no charge to attend, but we ask for a $1.00 donation to our lunch fund for those who wish to stay and chat with other gardeners after the meeting. Come out and learn about all of the things that we can be doing to reduce our risk, and to learn to identify the ticks that carry the disease from those that don’t, and what to do if we find ticks embedded in our skin. (There’s a LOT of myths out there, and it’s important that we do it correctly!)
